LIDS Advisory Committee

The LIDS Advisory Committee was formed during the 2008-2009 academic year, renewing an initiative that had previously existed during Prof. Sanjoy Mitter’s tenure as LIDS Director.

The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to make periodic visits of several days to LIDS in order to meet with faculty, students, and post-doctoral researchers and to learn about recent LIDS research and community activities as well as plans for the future. The Committee then provides feedback and guidance to LIDS leadership and to the School of Engineering at MIT.

The LIDS Advisory Committee is currently composed of four distinguished and world-recognized intellectual leaders:

Dr. Henrique Malvar, Chief Scientist of Microsoft Research in Redmond, WA. http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/people/malvar/default.aspx

Prof. Manfred Morari, Head of the Automatic Control Laboratory and Head of the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich, Switzerland. http://control.ee.ethz.ch/~morari

Prof. H. Vincent Poor, Michael Henry Strater University Professor of Electrical Engineering and Dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science, Princeton University. http://www.ee.princeton.edu/people/Poor.php

Prof. Pravin Varaiya, Nortel Networks Distinguished Professor and Professor in the Graduate School, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of California, Berkeley. http://www.eecs.berkeley.edu/Faculty/Homepages/varaiya.html
