Abstract

SoftBank Group, through its $100 Billion Vision Fund, is rapidly making investments in technology companies, thereby accelerating breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, miniaturization, manufacturing, the “gig-economy”, e-commerce and the connectivity of everyday objects. As the world becomes more connected with faster processing power, greater telecommunications capacity, and artificial intelligence, there will be significant productivity gains across industries; SoftBank’s founder and CEO, Masayoshi Son, believes that these breakthroughs will all happen over the next 10 years.

This talk provides an overview on SoftBank Group and the Vision Fund, it’s investment strategy and a discusses a few big themes that will play out over the next decade with a potential to change how we live forever.

Biography

Akshay Naheta is a Partner at SoftBank Investment Advisers. Prior to joining SoftBank Group, Mr. Naheta was the Founder and Managing Partner of Knight Assets & Co., an investment manager focused on arbitrage and value investing. Prior to forming Knight Assets in 2011, Mr. Naheta worked at Deutsche Bank AG in various trading and structuring roles from 2005 to 2010. He was the Head of Principal Strategies responsible for proprietary trading and structured deals, managing risk across various asset classes globally. Mr. Naheta received an S.M. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2004. He graduated with a B.S., highest honors, in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 2003. Mr. Naheta is on the Board of Directors of Auto1 Group, Bakkt Holdings and Roivant Sciences.
