Venkat Chandrasekaran receives Young Researcher Prize

LIDS alum (now assistant professor at Caltech) Venkat Chandrasekaran received the Young Researcher Prize in Continuous Optimization at the Fourth Mathematical Optimization Society International Conference on Continuous Optimization, ICCOPT 2013 (Lisbon, Portugal, July 27 - August 1, 2013), for the paper V. Chandrasekaran, S. Sanghavi, P. A. Parrilo, and A. S. Willsky, "Rank-sparsity incoherence  for matrix decomposition," SIAM Journal on Optimization, 21 (2011) 572-596.  The Young Researcher Prize in Continuous Optimization was announced at the conference banquet, with the winner being presented a $1000 USD award.
