Abstract

The global energy sector is moving from fossil-based to zero-carbon to mitigate climate change. The significant structural changes on the demand side result from the electrification of the transport and heating sector and decentralization of power supplies with the support of digitalization for real-time, and automated communication and operation. Such changes put new challenges to the long-term planning of a power system due to uncertainties from electric vehicles, prosumers, and energy management on demand side and intermittent renewable energy on the supply side. Thailand under a regulated electricity market structure with a single buyer model has been facing such challenges. Several modeling methods were adopted to investigate the possibilities of long-term planning.

Biography
