Abstract

Motivated by the uncertainties from deepening penetration of renewable energy resources in power systems, we study the day-ahead scheduling problem in electricity markets. We formulate the chance-constrained unit commitment problem considering uncertainties from loads and renewables, which ensures system is secure with high probability. We apply scenario approach to solve the chance-constrained unit commitment problem and obtain a priori and a posteriori probabilistic guarantees.
