Hamza Fawzi, James Saunderson, and Pablo Parrilo receive 2020 SIAG/OPT Best Paper Prize

We are thrilled to share the news that LIDS faculty member Pablo Parrilo, together with LIDS alums Hamza Fawzi (University of Cambridge) and James Saunderson (Monash University), have received the 2020 SIAM Activity Group on Optimization (SIAG/OPT) Best Paper Prize for their paper, “Semidefinite Approximations of the Matrix Logarithm,” published in Foundations of Computational Mathematics in April 2019.
 
This prize is given every three years to the authors of the most outstanding paper on a topic in optimization in the preceding four calendar years, and is a recognition of the paper’s significant research contributions to the field.
