LIDS is pleased to announce a one-time, one-semester graduate fellowship.
The fellowship will be awarded to a LIDS student. It is intended to serve as a bridge, targeted to students who are in transition between their Masters and PhD thesis research, and may not yet be fully committed to a thesis topic and/or research advisor. Preference will be given to students with non-traditional backgrounds and/or interested in non-traditional topics. The fellowship can be used during either the fall or the spring semester of the 2017-2018 academic year.
Interested students should submit, by May 20, 2017, to Mrs. Debbie Wright (dwright[at]mit[dot]edu), the following:
- CV
- Most recent transcript
- A letter of endorsement by a faculty or research staff who is familiar with the student’s research so far
- A statement on the types of research topics that the student plans to explore, and possible faculty mentors
This fellowship has been made possible by a generous gift from LIDS alum, Dr. Abhay Parekh.
Following a prize-winning seminal thesis, supervised by Prof. Robert Gallager, Dr. Parekh has straddled the lines of industry and academia. He is an Adjunct Professor with the department of EECS at UC Berkeley, and the cofounder of several companies, Lytmus Inc. being the most recent.
