Work by LIDS alum Tauhid Zaman fights online extremists with machine learning

The MIT Sloan School Newsroom covered work by LIDS alum Tauhid Zaman, the KDD Career Development Professor in Communications and Technology at MIT Sloan. Zaman and his student, Army veteran Christopher Marks, have built a model to predict which Twitter users likely belonged to the Islamic state group, also known as ISIS, allowing those accounts to be pre-emptively identified and shut down.
